Whole-cell peroxidase test for identification of Legionella pneumophila.
A simple combined peroxidase-catalase test has been developed which is applicable to live bacterial cells. Known strains of Legionella pneumophila were differentiated from other species of Legionella by being peroxidase positive and catalase negative.
متن کاملlvgA, a novel Legionella pneumophila virulence factor.
Several novel Legionella pneumophila virulence genes were previously discovered by use of signature-tagged mutagenesis (P. H. Edelstein, M. A. Edelstein, F. Higa, and S. Falkow, Proc. Natl. Acad. Sci. 96:8190-8195, 1999). One of these mutants appeared to be defective in multiplication in guinea pig lungs and spleens, yet it multiplies normally in guinea pig alveolar macrophages. Here we report ...
متن کاملInvestigation of Legionella Pneumophila bacteria in hospital water supply systems
Introduction: Legionella Pneumophila bacteria is known as one of the most important nosocomial infections and the most common cause of death in patients. This study was aimed to identify Legionella Pneumophila bacteria in hospital water supply systems. Material and Methods: This descriptive cross-sectional study was performed to identify Legionella pneumophila in hot and cold-water systems of i...

to discuss my point, i have collected quite a number of articles, anthologies, and books about "wuthering heights" applying various ideas and theories to this fantastic story. hence, i have come to believe that gadamer and jauss are rightful when they claim that "the individaul human mind is the center and origin of all meaning," 3 that reading literature is a reader-oriented activity, that it ...

The bacterial dinucleotide second messenger c-di-GMP has emerged as a central molecule in regulating bacterial behavior, including motility and biofilm formation. Proteins for the synthesis and degradation of c-di-GMP and effectors for its signal transmission are widely used in the bacterial domain. Previous work established the GGDEF-EAL domain-containing receptor LapD as a central switch in P...
